The 48th Scottish Transport Extravaganza took place in the magnificent grounds of Glamis Castle over the weekend of 13th & 14th July 2024. Organised by the Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club, the event proved more popular than ever with around 2000 entries representing a wide array of transport comprising veteran, vintage and classic vehicles and machinery including cars, commercials, military, tractors, steam engines, motor cycles and static engines.
With over 150 stands including auto jumble, motor trade, antiques and fundraising stalls, there was plenty to see and do with the usual variety of parades, pipe bands and amusements for adults and children of all ages.
Once again, we joined Team Dennis on the magnificent Tayside MGOC stand along with many other MG Owners Club regional members. Mike and Kay put in an enormous amount of work preparing what is always one of the best club stands at the show, and this year there were around 80 MGs of all ages shapes and sizes on the stand, including 12 Aberdeen club members. Special thanks must go to Mike and Kay for all their efforts in preparing the stand and organising everyone.
Held on both Saturday and Sunday, most people attended on the Sunday when the weather for most of the day was sunny and warm, with just the occasional light shower which lasted just long enough for everyone to ut their roofs up!
It was fabulous to see so many old friends and make new ones and this event is definitely one of the highlights on the calendar. The only drawback being that it is so popular with entrants and spectators that the queue to get out at the end of the day was massive!
