11th February - Zoom AGM
Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, we haven’t been able to meet face to face for around a year and so on the 11th of February, on what would have been our AGM, we held our first Zoom meeting.
This was well supported with 15 members mastering the technology and ‘dialling in’.
As we haven’t been able to hold our AGM, our Chairman Roger Key suggested to the members that unless anyone else wanted to volunteer, the three current Club officials, namely:
should continue in post until such time as we can meet again and hold an extraordinary AGM.
Following a brief discussion, this was proposed by Graham Rettie, seconded by John Pace and unanimously agreed.
We then discussed the possibility of running some events this year; in particular our Annual Awards Show at Drum Castle scheduled for the beginning of August. It was noted that a number of 2021 events (including MG Live) have already been cancelled due to the uncertainty with Covid, but it was agreed that we could wait until May before we needed to make a final decision. In the meantime, Roger agreed to write to NTS Scotland to see whether they would be in a position to host the event so once we have heard back from them, we can decide how to proceed.
Roger confirmed that in the unlikely event that we didn’t go ahead with our Drum event but the Grampian Region Jaguar Enthusiasts Club elected to run theirs, we would still assist them with setting up and clearing the site.
It was agreed that at the very least we could organise a few road runs throughout the year at short notice and hopefully by then, some hospitality venues may be open and able to host us at the finish? Further details will appear on the events page and on our FaceBook page.
John then gave a brief update on the Clubs finances and confirmed that as there was very little Club activity last year, anyone who paid subs for 2020 has had their membership extended until the end of 2021. The Clubs finances are very healthy with the only real expenditure during 2020 being the cost of setting up the Club internet domain to host the new website.
Graham Rettie suggested that Covid restrictions permitting we could partner with other Clubs in the region such as Porsche, Jaguar, Triumph etc. to put on an event similar to the Kippie Lunch we held in 2019; one other suggestion was a road run followed by a block booked, socially distant visit to the Grampian Transport Museum. The committee agreed to monitor the Covid situation and put on as many events as possible.
The Zoom meeting was deemed a success and we agreed that we would schedule another in March, possibly incorporating a virtual presentation by TAU.
