Our annual charity fundraising Show and Awards at NTS Drum Castle took place this year on Saturday 27th July.
For the past couple of years, our traditional August date of the first weekend in August has suffered from a clash with the much larger Aberdeen Performance Car Show at Castle Fraser and so as an experiment, this year we decided to change to a Saturday and bring it forward a week to 27th / 28th July. This meant that instead of being a week after the Grampian Region Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club event, it was the day before thus making it a Weekend Classic Car Festival with MGs on Saturday and Jaguars on Sunday.
The experiment appears to have been reasonably successful with 66 entries on the lawn and despite a couple of local competing events (again!), a similar number of spectators to last year. Once we get the final figures from NTS we will decide whether to continue with a Saturday next year or revert to a Sunday and would welcome comments from entrants and visitors to help us decide.
This year the event supported the following local charities
· Rotary / Charlie House
· RNLI
· Hearing Dogs and
· Team Aberdeen University.
The magnificent Sally’s from Portlethen attended once again with their brilliant coffee and cakes trailer, Absolute Roasters from Inverurie kept us all fed in the morning with terrific and very reasonably priced bacon rolls and with equally good burgers and hot dogs at lunchtime and Euan and his team from AutoGlym did a roaring trade throughout the day selling AutoGlym products. Special thanks to all the traders and charities for attending, and to club member Rob Buchan for providing some of the photos below. .
Congratulations to the following award winners:
