Late Summer Road Run - 19th August

This is a new addition to the Road Run calendar and was the first event organised by Susan and Alistair Thomson.  Starting with breakfast at Kellockbank, 10 cars (admittedly not all MGs!) set sail in persistent rain for the run up to Peterhead.  Spookily, 2 of the MGBs suffered the same fate of wiper arms falling off but once these were restored to their rightful place and the drivers could see, everyone enjoyed the run on some unfamiliar roads.  One or two of us also suffered with wet right legs thanks to leaky MGB windscreens.....F's and TF's don't seem to suffer from this 'feature'!

We stopped for a comfort break in Banff and thankfully the rain had stopped and the sun made a cautious appearance as we assembled in the car park. After a brief break, we set off on the last leg up to Peterhead where we met at The Harbour Spring for a pre-booked lunch.  Following this, there was a visit to the fantastic Peterhead Prison Museum to round off the day, just as the sun started to shine.

Everyone agreed it was a fabulous run so many thanks to Susan and Alistair for all their hard work, and to Alan and Anita Kreft who had done a trial run to test the route and the lunch halt!

It was a shame that the weather wasn't kinder to us, but nonetheless it was a great day out.
