Lewis Macklands' Inaugural Road Run

At the Club AGM back in February, our youngest member Lewis put his hand up when the Chairman asked for volunteers to organise a Road Run for the Club. Despite being very busy with his Uni course work, Lewis nevertheless managed to put together a terrific run through the Aberdeenshire countryside.

The run was open to non MGs and as a result, 6 MGB Roadsters, 2 MGB GTs, 2 Midget 1500s, 3 MGFs, 6 MG TFs, a Rover 75 Touring, a Porsche and an Aston Martin V12S Vantage Roadster assembled at Kellockbank Garden Centre (Just off the A96 North of Insch, Culsalmond, Insch AB52 6SN) for breakfast.

Following an excellent breakfast (Kellockbank is now firmly on our list of start venues!) we headed North on the A96, through Huntly, joining the A920 towards Dufftown where we stopped briefly in the public car park for anyone needing a comfort break or fresh air. There was also a photo opportunity in the large car park at The Glenfiddich Distillery which is a short distance away.

Leaving Dufftown, we took the A941 (aka the Cabrach) south, through Rhynie, and then on to the A944 to the Grampian Transport Museum in Alford.

Following a tour of the museum and a spot of lunch, the group dispersed home.

A good time was had by all so well done Lewis - when's your next run?!

As I was participating, I only managed to grab a few photos at the start, in the Glenfiddich car park and at the Museum - hopefully more photos to follow.
