Entries for this years Buckie Show sold out within a few days of going on sale earlier in the year which is proof, if anyone needed it, that this is one of the most popular and best shows on the calendar in the North East. And rightly so!
A fantastic amount of effort goes into organising a show on this scale: the organisers quote "a full 12 Months of planning and over 60 pages of Risk Assessments and Procedure Plans" were needed for this years show, but they also say was worth every minute!
A magnificent 766 individuals, 17 Car Clubs (231 Cars)and over 60 Trade Stands entered the show and there was simply no space for the many who missed out. Luckily we were one of the car clubs and had reserved a stand of 10 cars, plus one member who entered individually as soon as entries opened, but was also on our stand.
We all planned to meet (as has now become the norm for Buckie) in the Tesco car park but on arrival, the traffic was queued right back to the main road and it took us a while to even get to Tesco, let alone into the Showground. We eventually made it in and it was reasonably warm and sunny, with plenty to see and do with many fantastic cars, bikes and trucks on show. A complimentary coffee and a pancake was available for entrants on arrival and even better, a complimentary high quality fish supper was available at lunchtime. I really don't know how they manage it with the minimal cost of entry!
Unfortunately, dark clouds started gathering and around 13:30 occasional drizzle started which led to some frantic roof raising! The rain got progressively more persistent as the day went on and as a result, some entrants started drifting away around 15:00 but everyone agreed it had, as always, been a fabulous day out.
It was made even more enjoyable in that some members won a Show and Shine rosette and gold certificate - we won't mention that one of them was for a Jaguar though......!!!
The furthest travelled award went to Scott Merckaert who had travelled all the way from Belgium to attend the Show with his limited edition Mini GP2. The highest mileage award went to Jim Scott with his stunning Cortina which has clocked up over 222.000 thousand miles and is in stunning condition.
A huge thanks to the Organisers for a fabulous show, and also to Danny Morgan for the aerial shots of the show below.
We'll definitely be back next year - the date for you diary is 31st August 2025!
