Sunday May 8th was the date for the very popular How Many Left event at the Grampian Transport Museum in Alford. The basic premise of the event is to celebrate cars that were once produced in large numbers but are sadly now seldom seen on our roads. In many cases, where there were once literally tens of thousands of a particular model, there are now only 1 or 2 cars registered with the DVLA for use on the road.
One difference with the event this year was that there was a special area celebrating BMC / British Leyland through the years and so even though cars like the MGB wouldn’t normally be eligible for the event since there are still around 14,000 currently registered, this year they were permitted and hence it was good to see a few members there with their cars.
The Grampian Transport Museum is the jewel in the Aberdeenshire crown of places to visit, and now that Covid restrictions have been lifted more events are planned throughout the year. Further details can be found at https://www.gtm.org.uk/
