Moray Miglia

Although not a club event, the Moray Miglia has become a regular 'must do' car run for a number of Club members who always take part.  Organised by Darren McWhirter of the Moray Motor Museum, this years event took place on 21st August.  The route of around 150 miles takes us on some fantastic roads with brilliant scenery and a wide variety of cars from classics to modern supercars take part.

After a breakfast of scones / pancakes / tea /coffee in the magnificent workshops at the Museum, the route takes us to the lunch halt at the Cairngorm National Park where we enjoyed the provided packed lunch.  The afternoon run takes us back to Elgin where we have a fabulous high tea, all included within the entry fee.

The weather this year started well enough, but a biblical rain shower at the lunch halt in the Cairngorms saw some frantic roof erections - those with modern cars simply pushed a button and watched it all happen, whereas those of us with classics had a fight with ill fitting vinyl hoods with the resulting skinned knuckles and, by the time it is eventually up, a soaking wet interior!

Having said that, even with to roof up mine still lets copious amounts of water in so I sometimes wonder whether its worth putting the roof up at all.  Once the storm had passed, we endured the similar ritual of putting the roofs down again! All part of the fun.....apparently.

Thanks to Darren and his team for another fantastic event - looking forward to next year already - and thanks to Kevin Fergusson for the first 2 pictures - more of Kevin's work can be seen on his Facebook page at the link below.
